This art song for soprano was conceived during the early months of 2014.  It features two contrasting harmonic sections that alternate during the piece, one with a melancholic, traditional harmonic basis, and the other with a much more robust, declamatory nature, that is harmonically more compact and unusual.  The text is a smaller segment taken from one of Rainer Maria Rilkes larger poems.  The text describes the unbreakable connection between him and his love.
