Product Description

"Trinity" was written for the composer's mother, who was the organist and choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Church in Aurora, Illinois. It also was written in honor of that church and the renovation of its organ. The newly rebuilt organ received three dedicatory concerts, and Mrs. Sanborn opened the third of these with "Trinity." The piece is divided into three sections, which the composer considers to be Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The majestic first section, which begins with Creation, leads to the more somber and quiet second section, which starts with the birth of Jesus and ends with the Crucifixion. The third section, which begins with the Resurrection, was written to evoke fireworks, with the pedal underscoring God's presence in our lives. On October 26, 2013, "Trinity" was performed at a concert as part of the national conference of the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers. Nathaniel Efthimiou was the organist. A recording of that performance is available on this page. Interested listeners also can visit https://soundcloud.com/donald-h-sanborn-iii/trinity?in=donald-h-sanborn-iii/sets/church-music.
