Product Description

The beloved spiritual Amazing Grace is now available as a chorale arrangement for solo marimba!

Originally conceived and premiered as part of a chorale project within the University of Iowa School of Music's percussion studio, this soulful arrangement was lovingly arranged and performed by Iowa Percussion's own Jilly Cooke, who was a junior music education major at the time of this arrangement's debut. Having performed the song numerous times as a cast member in the opening "number" of a production of To Kill a Mockingbird (in which she played Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose), Cooke was inspired to arrange this tune in the style of a marimba chorale for use in a studio class with Iowa Percussion.

Using sumptuous, jazz-inspired chord voicings, tasteful rubato, and a quirky, bluesy tag ending, this arrangement is perfect for the intermediate percussionist to practice using 4-mallet chord rolls, the college marimbist looking for a jazzy étude to add to their repertoire, or for the professional artist looking for a short encore for recitals.

Instrumentation of 1 player includes: Marimba (4.5 octave)
