Originally composed in 1826, "Serenade", originally "Ständchen" and better known in English as "Hark, hark, the lark", D 889 was composed for solo voice and piano in 1826. Over the years it has become a favorite among singers and instrumentalists, with numerous transcriptions written over the course of almost 200 years.
This transcription is created for violin and piano, and is in the key of E minor, which takes advantage of violin's middle register
