What do you get if you mix a spark of inspiration with a pressing deadline?
Air Bells was inspired by a poem of the same name that appeared in a local handbell magazine and composed as a massed ringing piece for a rally in the Village of Woolpit in Suffolk, England.
The poem describes the fun that may be had if you turned your bells 90 degrees and 'mimed' your notes.
It is 82 measures of jolly tune in C major and contains short sections of Martellato, Plucking and Accidentals (as called for by the words of the poem.
The piece is available in 12-Bell and 2, 3 or 5 octave arrangements and all can be played together in a massed ringing setting.
