'Ariana's Ballet: Part 2 is a short piano piece, akin to a romantic miniature but with a more contemporary harmonic vocabulary composed to celebrate the 5th birthday of my good friend's daughter. As with Ariana's Nocturne, Adventure, Imagination and Ballet: Part 1 the music is based on a motif that 'exclaims' Ariana's name. The rest of the piece takes its inspiration from the story of Cinderella. The music, after a short recap (last time on Arianas Ballet) conveys the 2nd part of the narrative the Prince is looking for the owner of the glass slipper and finds his way to Cinderellas home. He knocks on the door and after being invited in the ugly sisters dance a fandango (and why not!) to impress. Fortunately the Prince is not impressed and he and Cinderella live happily ever after!
