Product Description

Brass Postlude 3 was designed to be used on those Sunday mornings when a brass quintet is available for the choir anthem, and it is desired to make maximum use of the quintet. Brass Postlude 3 is a Dixieland arrangement of the familiar hymn, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". There is a corresponding Brass Prelude 3 that is intended to go with this Postlude, and Prelude 3 is a somewhat subdued version of this same hymn. Then, for the postlude, Postlude 3 pulls all the stops, with the rousing Dixieland exuberance ratcheted up several levels. Like all of the Postludes in this series, it is designed to send worshipers out on an uplifting note (if the quintet can nail the style, this Postlude will DEFINITELY send them out smiling). Because of this Dixieland exuberance, Postlude 3 is quite a bit more difficult than its corresponding Prelude, and also requires a piccolo trumpet in A and a player who is familiar enough with the style to make it sound like a clarinet.  Contact the composer!  michael.ropp@ieee.org.
