Product Description
Moon Dance of the Fireflies, written for violin solo with piano, is in three parts: Longing, Joy, and Remembrance. This piece is quite a fun challenge for the advancing violinist with shifting, trills, high & even higher harmonics, flying spiccato, and left hand pizzicato. The story begins with the fireflies longing for the beautiful, glowing moon. You can hear their longing in the high harmonics of the 1st mvt as they fly high, and then even higher trying to reach their beloved moon. In the 2nd mvt, they see themselves as reflections of this beautiful moonlight on the earth, and dance with joy. You can hear their joy in the happily dancing notes of the 2nd mvt. In Remembrance, they dance across the forests and the fields, sharing this light with all who can see. You can hear the energy of their passion through the high and low flying spiccato notes in the 3rd mvt. Then, relaxing its pace, this piece slows and decrescendos as the fireflies remember the original sweetness of their longing, now fulfilled, and rest into peace with a thankful prayer.
