Product Description

The Chicago Songs is a cycle of four settings on the poetry of Carl Sandburg for bass, bass-baritone, or baritone solo voice. All four poems are odes to the city of Chicago, Sandburg's Valhalla. Note the Wagnerian comment to the same at the conclusion of the final song. Included are: Fish-Crier, Troths, The Shovel Man, and Style. The level is advanced, and an able pianist is required. Originally written for the composer's father (with a resounding F below Low C), it turned out to be more suitable to the composer's bass-baritone instrument. All three voice types can sing the cycle effectively.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
