Product Description
A sublimely expressive chorale-like setting of an original non-sectarian text
"Celestial Light" is one of my earliest surviving compositions.
I originally sketched it on 13 January 1975
and presented a copy to a friend, Jorge Arocha, in Miami.
It remained in keyboard score until 2001, when I happily rediscovered it and made extensive revisions,
including transposition into a key more consistent with the vocal ranges of professional singers.
A nonsectarian work of sacred character, it is suitable for use in a variety of liturgical or concert settings.
"Celestial Light" may be performed by SATB choir and/or stringed orchestra.
If it is presented by orchestra alone, I recommend that the original text be printed in the program notes:
Celestial light, Thou shinest in the heav's forever.
Through darkest night Thou shalt guide us
Thou burntest bright when the Universe first was born,
And kindled in our hears the love for God and man.
Oh holy light, the stars all celebrate Thy splendor.
Untouched by time, Thou art changeless.
Thy beauty liveth and never will pass away.
It will not fade when mortal flesh hath turned to loam.
