Caprice for Horn and Piano started out as a totally different piece of music, as a song in fact. However, in this modified form in a different key, it works well as a short, easy solo for horn. This is a light piece without any technical difficulties, but the modest musical material will test your musicality. Its mainly about melody, not technical abilities. Spirited, lyrical, reflective those are the three moods the player needs to communicate, and always with a light touch. Alternative lower notes have been included in the horn part for the very highest notes, although the goal should be to play the highest notes confidently.
