Product Description

BENJAMIN'S FUGUE is a cheerful, humorous, and fun piece for piano...four hands. Both parts are fairly equal in technical levels. This composition was written as the encore music for a play by Dallas playwright..Gary Swaim. The play is serious but has an uplifting ending and this music is meant to send the audience members out of the theater in a good mood. The music is a takeoff on a traditional two part invention in the Baroque style...but transitions into a slightly jazzy ending. It has a little bit of..."P.D.Q. Bach" in it and contains sudden volume shifts from very soft...to very loud. For comedic effect. (Think Bugs Bunny at the piano with the mouse adding in extra notes)! Playable by a young pianist who has reached the intermediate technical level...but is also enjoyable as an encore piece for advanced pianists.
