This is a solemn, large scale, instrumental patriotic anthem, ideal for national holiday celebrations, graduations or other suitable occasions. It is written in the form of a very expansive Classical rondo, and it makes reference to various musical
idioms of the historical past. This deliberate use of the Classical Style is a reference to the Founding Fathers.
Ideally, it should be performed with one instrument to a part, like a chamber symphony.
The score is all in C (sounds as written) for the convenience of score readers at the piano. The first Clarinet and the first Trumpet are treated like soloists almost throughout the composition.
