Product Description

PIANO CONCERTO IN G MINOR, Op.25b(1983)

makes up the second part of his opus 25, "Symphonic Concert No.1", which also includes the "a, Symphonic Overture No.1" and the "c, Symphony in C major" in four movements. The "b, Piano Concerto No.1 in g minor" was completed in 1982 and dedicated to Joseph Banowetz, Huang's close friend. Its world premiere was taken place in Canton, China in 1984, by Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the soloist, American pianist Joseph Banowetz, conducted by Tak-ng Lai, a Canadian conductor. The CD of it was performed by Banowetz and the Central Opera Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Zheng Xiao-ying in 1986. As the largest formed work of the the Chinese piano repertoire, this work has been successfully performed by Zhou Yubo, accompanied by the China National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Xu Dong-xiao on April of 2012.

The first movement is written in a sonata form, with an introduction and a cadenza of virtuosity. Another heavy cadenza goes with the meditative 2nd movement, which gets more folk style. The energetic third movement, which has a broad and lyric secondary part, leads to a brilliant conclusion.
