This piano solo is excellent for learning to play four sixteenth notes in the right hand against triplet eighth notes in the left hand, a challenge for every piano student. This would be a very appealing student recital piece due to the descriptive nature of the music. The questioning/ascending melody, depicted in the title "Is It Going to Rain?", is followed by trills in the left hand to portray claps of thunder. This is followed by a repetitive pattern of sixteenth note versus eighth note broken chords to portray heavy rainfall, which then comes to an end as suddenly as it began.
