''Sr. Zé'' is a Partido Alto, a samba style that emerged in Rio de Janeiro in the early twentieth century and is inspired by the characteristic rhythm of the pandeiro and the figure of Zé Pilintra, an entity of the catimbó and umbanda, Afro Brazilian religions.
Sr. Zé became a symbol of Rio's bohemia and one of the symbols of the Lapa neighborhood.
Very syncopated, with anticipations and rhythmic conventions, this quartet brings this trick of the night to this instrumentation, allowing the listener to imagine the dances, gamblind and rodas de samba.
