The second song is from the Orkney Islands off the Scottish coast. A lonely lass sings of her longing for the homeland, and begs her lover to return. The inclusion of Gaelic phrases helps preserve the language connection. Songs expressing sorrow are excellent literature for Middle School and High School singers and add depth and meaning in a concert setting.
