In a twist of fate, Beethovens String Quintet op.4, which is based on the Wind Octet in E flat major op.103, is here re-arranged for wind quintet. The arrangement contains all four movements in their entirety: I. Allegro con brio II. Andante III. Menuetto piu Allegretto Trio I Trio II IV. Finale: Presto Indicative tempo markings are provided. Total running time is 30+ minutes (but individual movements, especially the first, may be performed on their own). This arrangement is a great addition to the classical/romantic repertoire for wind quintet its original instrumentation for wind octet really shows in the beautiful and idiosyncratic, but also virtuoso lines for every instrument.
