Product Description

I wrote Impromptu Variations during the winter of 2001 when I was teaching at Minnesota State University Moorhead. During that time of year, the days are quite short, and the intense wind and cold make venturing outdoors rather uncomfortable. The subtitle, Waldstein Visited, refers to the Beethoven Op 53. piano sonata. The grey brooding weather and Beethoven's piece were at the moment, inspiration for the Variations; a piece which attempts to "capture" that peaceful, meditative feeling that besets one on dreadfully cold, quiet winter days.

The work is suitable for intermediate to advanced pianists and will pair well with music of all historical eras. Duration: 7:00.
