Product Description

This is an original work adapted from Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil, no. 6, "Rejoice, Virgin Mother". This arrangement seeks to capture the thoughtful and meditative feeling of Rachmaninoff's work, but has a unison melodic line and piano accompaniment (details below).

How this work was adapted from Rachmaninoffs All-Night Vigil, no. 6.

The All-Night Vigil is a monumental choral work requiring advanced musical skills for an adequate performance. This adaption features a unison melody line throughout, constructed from the fusion of melodic figures from Rachmaninoffs  a cappella original. To this newly constituted melodic line is added a completely original accompaniment created without any reference to Rachmaninoffs score. The result is a distinctive representation of Rachmaninoff which can be easily learned and performed by a solo singer or unison choir, including childrens choirs, for whom this work was originally created.

Original Text (From the Russian Orthodox All-Night Vigil)
Богородице Дево, радуйся,
благодатная Марие, Господь с тобою.
Благословена ты в женах,
и благословен плод чрева твоего,
яко Спаса родила еси душ наших.

Transliteration:
Bogoróditse Dyévo, ráduisya,
Blagodátnaya Maríye, Gospód s tobóyu.
Blagoslovyéna ty v zhenákh,
i blagoslovyén plod chryéva tvoyevó,
yáko Spása rodilá yesí dush náshikh.
