From the composer: Klezmer Funkadelic introduces the idea of genre fusion for intermediate
concert bands. This piece features an archetypal Funk groove, with a
simple bass line reminiscent of some of Stevie Wonders greatest hits.
The melody, alternating between the lighter woodwinds and brass/saxes,
is derived from modes of the harmonic minor scale, in particular the
phrygian dominant scale common in Jewish Klezmer music. Simple trills
are used throughout (mostly one-finger), as well as body percussion
during the intro and outro.
