Product Description
This score is an arrangement for orchestra of the Original Lully composition on Les Folies d'Espagne, known to many as La Folia. The edition relies on the echo principle, where the Oboe Quartet of two oboes, Oboe da Caccia (also playable on Cor Anglais) and bassoon all play the entirety of each repeated section both times, being joined by the strings and continuo for the second iteration of the section.
Having only three sections, it is a short selection compared to the Corelli or Vivaldi compositions on the subject, but is a wonderful piece to include in a programme, being flexible, not too long and having an unusual instrumentation to modern ears, using it's fully unaccompanied Quartet.
This score can also be performed by strings alone, or by simply the Oboe quartet.
Parts included:
Conductors Score, Oboe I, Oboe II, Oboe da Caccia, Bassoon, Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello e Bassi, Basso Continuo (unfigured), Basso Continuo (Figured).
