A choral standard with the fun twist of a horn quartet, this is a great piece for an established horn quartet at any ability level, and is undoubtedly thrilling to play on all accounts. The style of this piece gives each player an opportunity to express their musicianship and understand music from a time period before any other standard horn quartet repertoire even existed.

"Written by an early French composer, this piece is one of the most well-known madrigals
of its time. The title of the piece directly translates to "my husband is beautiful and kind.
Originally written for SATB choir, the text of this piece describes the setting of a group of
wealthy women discussing their marriage and comparing their husbands to one another.
Near the end of the piece, you can hear a faint rhythmic section that resembles the sound
of chickens clucking or "cooing" back and forth to one another before reprising their proud
claims of the good deeds of their husbands."
