These arrangements are for performance and are very precise. When We Dance is the first of two new songs from Fields of Gold: The Best of Sting 1984-1994. Sting wanted to write a song meant for the radio - "I wanted to bookend the Greatest Hits album with two new songs. Its presumptuous, because you dont know if a songs going to be a hit, but When We Dance seems to be going in the right direction. It has a flattened fifth at the end of the first line. Its an unusual, uncomfortable sound, which suits the situation in the lyrics." This is a challenging song, as many of Sting's songs are, but worth it. The guitar part has some difficult stretches but they are manageable with care.
