2016 Easy Piano Contest Entry
This is a simple, but pleasant arrangement of the theme in Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 known as "Ode to Joy." It is perfect for beginning piano students of any age.
Beethoven's piece was first performed in Vienna in 1824, to an enthusiastic audience. Beethoven had not appeared on-stage in 12 years, and it was a memorable event, with the audience giving him five standing ovations, and tremendous applause.
This melody is also often associated with the title "Joyful Joyful, We Adore Thee," which was a hymn written in 1907 by the Presbyterian pastor Henry van Dyke.
