Product Description

Beginning, intermediate, and advanced players will enjoy playing the beloved song "Bist du bei mir" ("If You Are Near") from Anna Magdalena's 1525 Notebook. This aria is offered here in a special 300th Anniversary Instrumental Edition in C Major with parts for various solo instruments. Two keyboard parts are provided along with parts for Instruments in C, Instruments in Bb, Instruments in Eb, Instruments in F, Viola, Cello/Bassoon, and Bass Clarinet. Originally thought to have been composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, a recent discovery reveals that this song is from an opera by Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel (1690-1749). This aria became very popular, which is why Bach's second wife Anna Magdalena, a fine soprano herself, copied it into her music notebook. There is another Instrumental Edition in Bb Major as well as five editions for voice including the Medium Voice edition which is also in C major.
