Product Description
New 2-page score (allows easy music handling, fits on stand, you can see your part and what the other is playing)
Ear-catching performance piece! Also suitable for private pleasure and as a moderately challenging practice piece.
A unique and striking arrangement meant to showcase the cello and give the violin some esoteric supporting roles, using a variety of techniques from Renaissance to baroque to classical to modern for harmonies, counterpoints, and mild discords. The two instruments spend about equal time with melody and supporting parts.
It will catch people's ear as they hear both the familiar and the unfamiliar, echoing like their own contrasting memories.
Order of the Carols:
- bell ringing introduction, can be plucked or lightly bowed
- Hark the Herald Angels Sing
- The First Noel
- O Little Town of Bethlehem
- O Come All Ye Faithful
- It Came Upon the Midnight Clear
- Silent Night
Interpretation:
Opening with bells and a celebration of angels, the instruments take turns with the quiet or stirring melodies, accompanied by the marching, close harmony, uplift, prayer or flying, committing the occasional sin and being quickly forgiven. The final reprise suggests the universe continues in an open-ended way.
