Product Description
There are many moments in our lives but none more significant than birth and death.
Whilst birth is openly celebrated in our society, death however is treated as dark and sombre.
I was moved to compose this piece "Laid to Rest" as I saw death as a final resting place and the funeral, a celebration of that persons life as he is sent off on a journey of peace. Hence, this piece takes on a lighter, hopeful yet reflective feel compared to other pieces of heavier, melancholic notes.
I was deeply honoured when it was first played / performed at Singapores late founding father Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yews funeral. I had to control my tears as I was conducting the band and was so grateful for being able to honour him with my composition.
During this pandemic, there are many healthcare heroes on the frontline working tirelessly to protect all of us. Some have even sacrificed their lives. I would like to dedicate this to these heroes. May they and their loved ones find comfort in this piece.
