Duarte's recomposition - completes the suite
Review by Ben R. on 23 Oct 2024 review stating Die With A Smile - Piano/Vocal/Guitar
An interestingly different version of this well-known song, good to play. It's part of Duarte's Joan Baez suite but is omitted from the Mel Bay publication.
This is what I think is now called a recomposition rather than just an arrangement. The title page includes a note from John Duarte about his quoting from Schubert and from the Taps bugle call. He identifies it as a song about the Vietnam War and the US personnel who died in it and he adapts the tune and accompaniment accordingly. (Based on the dates, I doubt Pete Seeger had this in mind when he wrote the song, but Joan Baez very likely did when she recorded it.)
