Product Description

Number 4 in this series, Prelude No. 21 in B-flat from The Well-tempered Clavier Book 1, combined with the Allemanda from unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 4 (originally in E-flat). The Allemanda serves as a fitting alternative to Fugue 21 which follows the Prelude. Extensive sticking suggestions in the Allemanda amount to a lesson in creative mallet work and are meant to develop sticking technique to an artistic level. Pedalling is left to the discretion of the performer. The movements compliment each other beautifully but can be performed as separate pieces. Performance time is approximately 1:45 and 3:15 respectively with repeats. The arpeggio chord figures in the Prelude offer a contrast to the linear phrases and abrupt cadences in the Allemanda. Both works offer the opportunity to "open up" your sticking technique with a rewarding piece of music.
