Amongst Schubert's dramatic orchestral writing there are some intimate moments of chamber music, including passages for clarinet and harp. Its extremely rare and exciting to find original material for this combination from this era, written by a composer of such standing.
In The Magic Harp Series I have taken extracts for the score where Schubert writes for clarinet and harp, to create stand-alone pieces. The music for The Spark Caught, the Fire Glows is originally for onstage clarinet in A. Schuberts accompaniment uses harp and string orchestra. The same material appears again as a tenor aria with oboe obligato and an accompaniment of harp and string orchestra.
The other pieces in the series are:
'Palmerin's Romance' for clarinet in Bb and harp (or piano)
'The Spark Caught, the Fire Glows' for clarinet in Bb and harp (or piano)
'Let the Harp Sound' for clarinet in Bb and harp (or piano)
The pieces in the series can be performed together or separately.
