Product Description
This score is based on the soundtrack to HBOs Game of Thrones TV mini-series, rather than on the simplified piano arrangement published by Hal Leonard.
Ramin Djawadi, the Iranian-German composer of the original soundtrack said, in interview, he used a traditional Japanese tako drum in the background. The TV producers told him : "No flutes". He particularly likes to use the cello in his scores and also to have unusual instruments.
In my arrangement, I used the cello as the lead instrument, together with strings, a tako drum and bass brass. Also at the end is a very short solo by a Japanese shamisen, a traditional three-string guitar and a short choral background, as in the original score.
The tako drum can be replaced by a bass drum; the shamisen can be replaced by an acoustic guitar; and the voices are purely optional.
To enable you to listen to the full score, Ive created a video on Vimeo, adding a new audio soundtrack of my score to the opening titles. It can also be found at: https://vimeo.com/329781410
