DER3 Music
David E. Robinson III, born in Detroit, MI (a 1973 graduate of Highland Park High School) and a graduate of Morehouse College in 1978 in Atlanta, GA is an experienced orchestra music educator since 1983 in the Dekalb County School System in metropolitan Atlanta, GA. Although he retired in June 2019, he is often called to substitute teach, especially for string orchestra teachers that will be out for a period of time. He arranges a variety of multicultural music for his students and others so that they will experience a unique side of orchestral music. He is also a composer and publisher (der3music) of string orchestral music for school-aged students. He is also the founder and director of the Still Waters Youth Sinfo-Nia Orchestra of Metropolitan Atlanta (founded in 1990), a community group that performs a variety of multicultural music: classical, jazz, Negro spirituals, gospel, reggae, ragtime, soca, country, Top-40: rock, R & B, hip-hop, and so on. He conducts workshops, summer camps, retreats, residencies, etc. in numerous U.S. cities and twice in Jamaica. He has been guest clinician/conductor for Urban Strings of Columbus, OH since 2009. He has also served in a number of schools in the Columbus City Schools System. He served as conductor of the D. Jerlene Harding Memorial/National Association of Negro Musicians from 1985 to 2015. A number of his former students are teaching on the college and grade school level, performing professionally in symphony orchestras, as solo and ensemble artists, recording artists, traveling world-wide, and so on.
