​​With 26 years of service, Bryan retired as the Chief Composer / Arranger for The United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. Navy Band performances of Bryan's music have spanned the nation — from the White House to Carnegie Hall to the prestigious MidWest Band and Orchestra Conference.  Additionally, his writing, conducting and teaching experience range from elementary through collegiate and professional levels.

Currently, Bryan is the Composer / Arranger-in-Residence for The American Festival Pops Orchestra, a professional ensemble founded by Conductor Emeritus Anthony Maiello, and affiliated with George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia.  He has produced over 100 pieces of music for the American Festival Pops Orchestra since joining the orchestra in 2011.  Terry Ponik, in his review of AFPO in Communities @ Washington Times, described Bryan's arrangements as "clever, witty, and deep."

While primarily known as a big band writer, Bryan's work with the Navy Band afforded him the opportunity to write for ensembles large and small — winds, strings and choral — in a wide variety of styles.  Steeped in the traditions of "The Great American Songbook," his writing is characterized by tuneful melodies derived from a strong harmonic vocabulary and supported with solid orchestration.  An admirer of Sammy Nestico, Bryan endeavors to follow Sammy's example of writing musically for both the developing and professional musician.

Many of the pieces Bryan wrote for noted publishers — Alfred Music, Curnow Music Publications, FJH Music Co. and William Allen Music — have "returned home," residing now at BryanKiddMusic.com.  In addition to having an outlet for more recent works, it's Bryan's goal to share his music with yet another generation of music educators, and community and professional ensembles.
