Kathi Kerr, owner and founder of
Melody Music Publishers, grew up in a musical family, playing and performing piano since she was a child. She attended Point Loma Nazarene College for two years, from 1980 to 1982, as a piano performance major, and San Francisco Conservatory of Music for two years, from 1986 to 1989, again for piano performance. While attending the conservatory, Ms Kerr began teaching private piano lessons and found such a passion for sharing her love of music with others that she decided to teach privately full-time. In 1989, Ms Kerr founded a company called
Melody Music Studios, hiring music and vocal instructors around the country who had the same passion for teaching that she did. Then, in 2017, she was inspired to write a piano method series based on her over 30 years of teaching experience that included everything a student needs, from note reading and theory worksheets, rhythm drills, exercises, scales, and plenty of songs to master what is taught. While writing the books, Ms Kerr found another passion: composition. All the songs in her books are original. In 2019, she founded Melody Music Publishers to carry her line of method books and original compositions. You won't find these books and compositions in any other publications.
