Phantom Dog Music
Andrew Harrison is an Australian composer and pianist whose work spans art music, jazz, theatre, film and music for education. A strong interest in history and narrative permeates his musical output and artistic philosophy, which leading new music exponents in Australia and the United States have performed and championed.

His work has been commissioned and premiered by New Music Detroit, Paul Grabowsky and the Monash Art Ensemble, the Arcko Symphonic Ensemble, the Dandenong Ranges Music Council, British-Australian pianist Zubin Kanga, the Grainger Wind Symphony, Red Stitch Actor’s Theatre, and Eagle-Eyed Productions, amongst others. From 2006 – 2015, he was pianist and composer with Australian jazz quintet Shol, playing on their self-titled debut album. 

Andrew completed his PhD in Music Composition at the Australian National University (ANU), working with composer Larry Sitsky and historian Paul Pickering. His doctoral dissertation, ‘Sounding Out The Past’, won the J.G. Crawford Prize for Interdisciplinary Research. Previously, he completed a Master of Music degree at the ANU, and a Bachelor of Music degree at La Trobe University.

As a teacher of music, Andrew has nearly three decades of experience within the Australian tertiary and secondary sectors. He lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife and two sons.
