Paul McCartney said that he composed the entire melody in a dream one night at the Wimpole Street home of his girlfriend Jane Asher in 1964. When he woke up, he hurried to a piano and played the tune to avoid forgetting it. This has perhaps become the song for which McCartney is most famous. This edition captures the spirit of the original track, and yet is notated in such a way that the young student or adult beginner can easily understand and read.
