These arrangements for bassoon of operatic arias, many from the Bel Canto period and school, are both great fun to play and will help to develop a rich, singing tone. They are aimed at intermediate players, approximately ABRSM grade 4 - 6.

Si La Rigeur is from Halevy's 1835 opera "La Juive" (The Jewess).  It is pure bel canto in style, with beautiful, legato, cantabile phrases,. Like Sarastro's arias in Die Zauberflöte, it is full of warmth and kindly authority. I hope you will find it  rewarding to play.
