Product Description

DESTINY by Ian Scott and Mike Smith Orchestra version score. Required: flute, oboe, 2 clarinets, bassoon, singer, French horn, 1st and 2nd violin, viola, cello, doublebass. Preferred in addition: pianoforte (improvised) Optional: 2nd flute, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, timpani 5 minutes, 40 seconds. A simple, moving, beautiful, meditative song by distinguished musical theatre writers. A young person wonders "what the future holds: who knows my destiny?". This version has flexible scoring (by Ian Scott and experienced conductor and arranger Alan Edgar) for a small orchestra with optional additional instruments. There is alternatively a lead-sheet, showing just melody, lyrics and chords, available from sheetmusicplus but included with the set of parts. The set includes one copy of each part, but the purchaser is allowed to copy them so that there are enough for one orchestra. Vocal range only a tenth (c up to e) so suitable for soprano, treble, mezzo, tenor, baritone, bass. Instrument parts are all very easy, but there is a lovely horn solo and one verse is purely instrumental, so it is interesting and enjoyable to play. Easy listening, but you will feel the emotion. Suitable for concerts, engagements, weddings, christenings, school-leaving and prize-giving ceremonies, private parties, recitals and the salon. Incorporate it into your play, review or musical. Listen to audio-recording: don't be put off by the computer-generated sounds. This song was the memorable highlight of a recent concert featuring Rachel Sellers with Ian Scott on piano. The Isle of Axholme Orchestra will be performing it in November, 2013, again with Rachel and Ian. Look out for more songs by these writers.
