ASH GROVE is a popular hymn tune based on a traditional Welsh melody.  Hymns using Ash Grove include Let All Things Now Living, The Master Hath Come, Sent Forth by Gods Blessing, and others.  In this vibrant new setting, the piano has an equal role with the other instruments.  The writing is mostly homophonic, with solo sections and a short imitative interlude in f minor using the piano as a "quasi cello".  This very accessible piece is delightful to both perform and experience as a listener.  It is appropriate for a worship service, student competition, or recital.  Ash Grove is available in two editions:  2 flutes and piano; or flute, violin (or 2 violins) and piano.
