Product Description

This easy piano arrangement of Beethovens Für Elise is carefully typeset in bright, colored notation with hand drawn notation symbols and extra large staves for maximum readability. The colored notation highlights harmonic function and aids the visual memory. The music has been carefully arranged for young pianists to be easier to read and remember while fitting smaller hands and retaining all the beauty of the original. This piece was originally published in 1867, 40 years after the death of Ludwig van Beethoven. The original manuscript written by Beethoven has been lost, and all that remains are transcriptions of the music. The first person to bring a transcription this music to public attention was Ludwig Nohl who discoverer this mysterious and beautiful piece of music by Beethoven. His transcription, one of the earliest, is the closest to the version that is most often heard today. No one knows who "Elise" is, though Max Unger published a paper in 1925 suggesting that Ludwig Nohl transcribed the name if the piece incorrectly and that the piece is actually named "Für Therese", who was Therese Malfatti von Rohrenbach zu Dezza, a friend and student of Beethovens
