Product Description
The following piece is a set of variations on a Peruvian folk tune.
"Sonqoy", the name of the tune, is pronounced "song-hoy" and is Quechua for
"my heart" (literal meaning) or "my beloved" (speaking figuratively).
The sections bear Spanish titles, and are arranged in the following manner:
1. Variación florida
2. "Variation romantique"
3. Variación de Puno (Puno is a region in the southern Peruvian Andes)
4. Variación modernista
5. Variación de Trujillo (Trujillo is a region in the Peruvian coast)
The piece was commissioned by American oboist William Wielgus. The present is an arrangement for flute and alto flute made by the composer.
