Product Description

2015 Piano Contest From GateWay Editions, Edited and Arranged for the Average Hand and Technique. Ravel may have thought this piece to be "deficient in form" but in content it is surely one of his most enduring melodies. The original version for piano has much crossing of the hands, and duplicate notes in both the R and L. It has clef changes on every beat in some sections. Our edition keeps the right and left hands in their respective registers, except for the one high L to treble cross that is easily executed and clearly defined. The left hand does NOT duplicate notes from the right, and the clefs never change in the middle of a measure, as is the case with ALL the GE editions. The motion of the accompaniment that increases from eighths to 16ths is all kept in the right hand, and the melody does not suffer for it. The left hand that used to come up to the treble clef has been re-assigned to the right, and yet the intricate patterns of those accompaniment notes has been preserved. An Advanced piece, but a LOT more playable for the high school or beginning collegiate pianist. MP3 MIDI audio. MBB
