2020 SMP Press Composition Contest Entry for the Popular instrumental ensemble category: "Sea Cruise" is a song written and sung by Huey "Piano" Smith and His Clowns. It was first released by Frankie Ford in 1959 with Smith's original backing track. On the Billboard charts, it reached number 14 in the Hot 100 and number 11 on the Hot R&B Sides. Released on Ace Records, it sold over one million copies, gaining gold disc status. This is an arrangement for a saxophone quintet consisting of 1 soprano or alto sax, 1 or 2 more alto saxes, 2 tenor saxes and 1 baritone sax. It is in Bb major and its playing time is approximately 2.5 minutes. (Parts are also included for optional voice, piano, and string bass.) Bon Voyage!
