The 5-NOTE FAVOURITES series uses a limited/basic range of pitches, rhythmic values and articulations/signs: Pitches - C D E F G in the treble clef and in the bass clef, with some octave displacement (indicated by 8va); Rhythmic values - semibreve (whole-note), dotted minim (dotted half-note), minim (half-note), crotchet (quarter-note), quavers (eighth-notes); quavers (eighth-notes) appear only in groups of 2 or 4; Articulations/signs - staccato, accent, slur, tie, pause, repeat, 1st and 2nd time bars. All pieces are written within the range of a 61-note keyboard. Performers using an electronic keyboard rather than an acoustic piano should be encouraged to experiment with the sounds available and select the timbre(s) to suit the piece.
