The movements of the tone poem Sketches of Christ are written using contemporary classical music composition techniques.
The last movement is the encounter between Jesus and the man born blind. These 2 themes are joined by a third the Pharisees who are antagonistic to the Jesus and the man He healed.
The movement begins with the blind mans theme, using a sigh motive in the natural minor mode in a melancholy tempo. Christs theme is set in the major scale, but cadences in 3 whole step chords. Christs theme features marked crescendo and decrescendo, in a calm tempo. The second theme of the blind man is set in 6 / 8 time with leaps and glissando representing the joy of newfound sight. The Pharisees theme uses mixed meter beginning with 5/8 time with a strident atonal melody.
