Product Description

W.F.E. Bach, grandson of J.S. Bach, was the last in the long line of composers in the Bach family. Very few of his works have survived. The Trio in G major is one of two composed for the unusual combination of two flutes and viola. Here it has been arranged for flute, violin and viola. It would make a good companion piece with Beethovens Serenade for the same combination.

The style is early classical retaining the Baroque reluctance to indicate dynamics , leaving this largely to the performers. I have added a few in parentheses ( ) and also some additional phrasings - shown with dashed lines to provide some guidance to less experienced players. The four movements are: Larghetto cantabile, Allegro, Poco Adagio and Presto. A trio of advanced intermediate players will discover that the Bach magic was there to the end.
