Product Description

Composed especially for graduation ceremonies as a companion to "Entry of the Graduates: Processional," this recessional piece comprises two of Brahms most beautiful melodies and is the perfect vehicle to salute graduates as they file out of the ceremonial venue. It opens with an introductory statement based on the "Allegro non troppo, ma con brio" section of the 4th movement of Brahms Symphony No. 1, then segues into the "Chorale St. Antoni" theme of Brahms Variations on a Theme by Haydn. This leads to a more melodic version of the "Allegro non troppo" theme, after which the two melodies alternate. In keeping with the nature of Brahms compositions, the suggested tempo is a brisk 138, and the structure of the arrangement is such that the major middle section may be repeated as often as necessary. The ending, like the introduction, is based on "Allegro non troppo."
Completed in 2016, this arrangement runs about 8 minutes, 23 seconds without cuts. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (e.g., Treble Clef Baritone for Trombone, or Trombone 2 for Horn in F) at no charge; contact him directly at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. For more arrangements by Les, enter "Sweetwater Brass Press" (without the quotation marks) in the search box. (Also, purchase of this piece entitles you to your choice of another of his arrangements at no charge; send a copy of your purchase receipt directly to him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.)
