Product Description

I created this piano + vocal reduction of this flashy da capo aria for a friend using it to audition. Oddly, there seem to be no vocal scores available. Any coloratura mezzos looking to bring in something other than "Una voce poco fa" will appreciate this little-known treasure! This aria is also suitable for sopranos (indeed, the character Medea is listed as a soprano) but it only goes up as high as A.

As a collaborative pianist myself, I've included helpful realizations of the continuo parts in small noteheads and indications of where I've transposed lines to fit them under the hands. If you are a pianist pressed for time, I would recommend sticking to the outer voices in the running 16ths portions. Enjoy!

N.B. some editions list the recit's title (and the corresponding text in the score) as "Ira, sdegni," rather than the singular sdegno.
