Franz Anton Hoffmeister (1754-1812) was a German composer. He also published music scores by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and himself.
He composed 21 Duets for Violin & Viola (3 sets Op.7, 6 sets Op.13, 19, 65). This Op.19-4, which is now sometimes called as No.1, is especially beautiful one among them. It consists of the following three movements.
I. Allegro
II. Adagio
III. Menuetto
Movement II in C minor is very impressive.
